A Clown rental - Hey you with the red nose, pay attention please...
A Clown rental isn't about fooling around! It is about an actor or actress that captures everyones imagination, lives in a land of make believe, and brings an energy to the party that all will remember.
A Clown must be an entertainer, story teller, courteous, and to be great at their profession they should insure they have worked at their act long and hard enough to be worth hiring.
When I was a young
child, which was quite
a while back, ...
my parents occasionally allowed
me to watch television, and the
best shows always had clowns in
them. My personal favorite was Red
Skelton. He broke every rule of
comedy by laughing at his own jokes.
The audience would laugh, I would
laugh, and Red... well he eventually
got to the punch line, but it really
didn't matter cause he accomplished
his goal, to leave the world a
happier, better place.
Other greats included Emmett Kelly,
the poor old hobo. I have a statue
of Emmett Kelly dressed up as a doctor
holding a stethoscope with one hand
and a golf club in his other hand sitting in my office.

According to information at the Hall of Fame website there are five types of clowns! Check it out, you might be able to use this information in the future for choosing entertainment.

The only other question that comes to mind regarding this site is how do clowns ever accomplish anything like creating a clown hall of fame when they are always ...?
Well, Lets bring in the Clowns...
With this in mind I am going to be careful to only include the best clown rental acts I have seen on this page. So what does it take to be listed on this page.
First I look for a great; no actually a fantastic costume and makeup. Then I listen to their speech. Are they using an actors voice or a plain old boring "how are you today" voice. Are they very friendly to the children. Do they deal well with high energy children?
What other skills does the clown(s) have such as face painting, singing, magic acts, live animal shows ... whatever it is I need to know because it breaks my heart when children quickly get tired or bored from the same old song and dance routine that I see over and over. Clown Rentals must be FUNNY!
With this criteria in mind let me introduce you to one of my most favorite Clowns.
Stripes is a collection of part entertainer, part actor, part balloon twister, part magician, and the best part is he talks to the children at their level. (He isn't very tall :)
He never ever leaves character when he is dressed up. I have seen stripes tons of times and think the world of him and his effort to be a great entertainer.
