What should you know about Inflatable bouncing tent safety at your event in Nova Scotia.
School Safety Bulletin for Nova Scotia regarding inflatable bouncing tent operations in 2008!
Are you aware that starting in the spring school rentals are required by law to be carried out by Nova Scotia Government inspected party rental suppliers. Make sure they are licensed. There is nothing worse than having to cancel an event because the operator is not insured or licensed. If you hire someone that is not licensed or insured it will leave the school in a very difficult position.
Are we licensed operators? Yes - we were one of the first companies to complete the inflatable devices course in Halifax. We are licensed, insured, trained and ready for the snow to melt already. Trust the experts in school rentals to do the job right.

What is a certificate of insurance?
Another school bulletin - Can the rental company produce a certificate of insurance with a minimum policy coverage of one million dollars for your event.
A certificate of insurance is a letter issued by an insurance broker confirming the rental company has a valid policy.
Party rental questions like; do you have a "certificate of insurance" and "would your insurance broker provide one for the school" before the event, indicate the rental company is indeed insured.
If your current supplier of inflatable bouncing tent or other inflatable games doesn't offer the certificate, move on to another company. They must have rental insurance in place to be in business in the province of Nova Scotia.
Attendants
School boards require an attendant from the company to manage the inflatable bouncing tent while operating on school property.
It make sense a qualified person should do the task of setting up and running the equipment since they are the experts.
Ensure that the inflatable devices are properly secured with long spikes placed deep into the ground to prevent the wind from catching the game and blowing it over. If the company doesn't spike the gear don't get on the inflatable bouncing tent or other items. The spikes prevent the games from flying in the wind, which is very dangerous.
How big of a spike would I recommend - 42 inches long by 1 inch driven into the ground over two feet. And not just a couple of spikes for the big gear, more like 10 to 14 spikes. Count on a good hour to setup an obstacle course or slide with all the spikes and safety gear.
Safety Instructions during operation.
For rider safety ensure the attendant briefs all the players or riders for things such as loss of power, evacuation of an inflatable, and sizing of groups of similiar size and height during each turn. This helps avoid bigger children bowling over little ones.
When lightning flashes or you hear the thunder, the ride must be emptied and the riders should go inside for shelter. It is best to wait 30 minutes after the last thunder clap before resuming operations.
Have a supply of whistles available for the attendants to use when they need someones immediate attention. This is very effective around large groups of excited children and adults.
Ensure that no wires are close to or above the inflatable device. Twenty feet vertical and horizontal clearance is recommended as the least distance from overhanging wires.
Are you operating inside a gym. Make sure gym mats are on the cement floor to prevent injuries that may occur if someone falls off of a ride. Gym mats are great for preventing accidents.
When you book an item for school rentals find out how many riders the device can handle an hour. It doesn't make sense renting a small bounce kingdom castle that handles 80 people per hour when the event is expecting 500 people.
