A safely setup inflatable in Nova Scotia

Start digging with these questions.
Start with the good ole "how much" question and then ... start digging deeper! Here are a few party rental questions I would ask.Ask if there is a delivery charge and ask for a quote. (It is the nature of business lately to seperate all the charges - check your courier bill next time for the fuel surcharge for example) Ask if they have a "strike fee", which is actually a charge for setting up the equipment at the location of the event. Ask if they will issue a "certificate of insurance" from their insurance company if you are renting items such as inflatable products, interactive gear such as joust, bungee run, climbing walls, sumo wrestling, jacobs ladder, obstacle courses, giant slides etc. This little item quickly weeds out the companies that don't have liability insurance! Insist on having the certificate as early as possible to avoid the problem of getting another rental company last minute after finding out there is no insurance with the plan "A" company. Ask what the company policy is for cancellations and the cost.
Some fees can be as high as 100% so find out before you sign up.
What is their policy regarding inclement weather? Generally it is a great idea to have a rain plan in case. After all we do live in Nova Scotia.
What deposit do they require for confirmation? Fifty percent is quite common, and the reason companies do this is to give them some income if a person cancels at the last minute on them. If they get no deposit and are cancelled they have lost an opportunity to rent out their items.
In the event of malfunction, how do they deal with it. What is the company policy.
Is there a contact name and number for after hour emergencies or problems if this applies?
Ask for references and phone numbers especially for large events where a lot is depending on a smooth delivery and operation by the vendor(s).
Now that you have seen this list you probably have come up with some more rental questions of your own. Thats great!
Can you see the problems in this picture?

Problems: 1. This inflatable was not tied down - the wind could easily blow this away.
2. The safety walls were never installed. A person falling off this item onto the ground would be hurt.
Read the article on this particular entertainment item and why we don't carry it. Caution - article on this item! Proper training would insure this item was correctly setup. If something appears dangerous, please speak up for safeties sake.
Insurance - does the company have it, need it, want it ...
What the government of Nova Scotia says! Minimum of one million dollars of insurance coverage to operate in the province. No exceptions. So the company is legal if they have it, and this link covers a little about the insurance issue in Nova Scotia.
